Christopher Girgenti received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Wingate University, with a minor in Spanish. While attending Wingate, Mr. Girgenti studied euphonium under Dr. Dawn Price and trumpet under Mr. Gordon Hann. He also studied piano under Ms. Cynthia Lawrence, Mrs. Polly Bostic, Mrs. Julianna Hayward, and Mrs. Meagan Lacher, voice under Mrs. Sarah Maughn and Dr. Melinda Lein, and composition under Dr. Christopher Griffin and Dr. David Brooks.
While at Wingate, Mr. Girgenti performed in a wide variety of ensembles such as Brass Quartet, Quintet, and Choir; Wind Ensemble; Pep Band; Men’s Choir; and Opera Scenes. Mr. Girgenti premiered his first band composition, “At the Shrine,” in April 2015. He is also a founding member of Real Deal Jazz, which has performed at various venues throughout the state.
Currently, Mr. Girgenti is working toward receiving a Master of Library and Information Studies at UNCG, with Post-Baccalaureate Certificates in Music Theory and Ethnomusicology. He continues to perform in various ensembles, such as the UNCG University Band. His goals are work in a music library and eventually pursue a doctorate in Ethnomusicology.
